Spilled milk. Let it go.
That the ACC was behind the B1G and SEC in the network game is well documented. Lots of people called it then and it continues to be obvious. It remains to be seen how the Raycom deal will payoff but allegations of nepotism ignore the fact that the deal had the blessing of all member institutions.
The ACC likely couldn't have positioned itself much better. As a myopic, provincial thinking, Carolina-centric basketball conference (historically) with too many private schools it's done pretty well since.
What more could they have done to prevent UMD from leaving or to get PSU to join?
UL is better than UMD in some areas and worse in others. On balance, for what the ACC needs, I'll take UL. Rutgers would have been just another mouth to feed. Horrible mismanagement at both of those schools saddled the ADs with crippling debt. Their absorption into the B1G was wholly reactionary to the ACC's deal with ND and flirtations with PSU. The B1G had/has the cash to float them over the long term, whether they fix their management issues or not. Imagine if they didn't have to split their pie 14 ways.
Syracuse and BC don't contribute much to the revenue pile but their ADs are responsibly run and conferencing with them extends the footprint and gives schools like VT more exposure to north-eastern out-of-state tuition money.
What else would you like to see the ACC do (besides add WVU, drop Wake, and fire Swofford)?
